3.5 inč. disketni pogon

- Opis:
Diskete so še vedno v uporabi v nekaterih sistemih letalskih družb, celo v pilotskih kabinah letal. [ENG]: Floppy Disk Drive (FDD) from the 1990s, designed for use with 3.5-inch diskettes. The 3.5-inch diskette, commonly known as a floppy disk, was a popular data storage device throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. It holds a nostalgic place for many, as the iconic "save" icon was modeled after this disk. A standard floppy could store 1.44 MB of data—far less than a single high-quality image or short video by today’s standards. Floppy disks were magnetic storage media encased in plastic, produced in various sizes. While the 3.5-inch disk is the most widely recognized, there were also 8-inch and 5.25-inch versions. The first floppies, introduced by IBM in 1971, were 8 inches in size. The term "floppy" became common in the 1970s, though they were also referred to as "diskettes" in the 1980s and 1990s. Before the widespread use of hard drives, floppy disks were often used to store operating systems, and many fondly recall swapping disks to play computer games. Although floppy disks—and the iconic save icon—are largely obsolete today, they continue to have niche uses in specific sectors. Some European transportation, shipping, and public administration systems still rely on floppy disks. Remarkably, until 2024, Japan required citizens to submit certain government documents on floppy disks. They also remain in use in some airline systems, even in airplane cockpits.
