Lear Sigler ADM-3A
Lear Siegler Incorporated, ZDA
- Opis:
- Lepo zašiljen monitor z vgrajeno tipkovnico, kremne barve. [ENG]: The ADM-3A terminal, introduced by Lear Siegler in 1976, is celebrated for its iconic, compact, and user-friendly design. It gained renewed attention after being featured in the Marvel Studios show Loki. Like other dumb terminals of its time, the ADM-3A was used to interface with larger, centralized computers. These terminals lacked their own processing power, relying entirely on the connected mainframe or minicomputer. Typically equipped with a keyboard and a screen, they allowed users to input commands and view outputs from the central computer, making them essential tools for computing in the 1970s and 1980s. The ADM-3A is distinguished by its robust build and minimalist design. It features a monochrome CRT display, a full keyboard, and can display 80 columns by 24 lines of text. Notably, it introduced the tilde symbol (~) as a shorthand for the home directory in many command-line interfaces. This innovation came about due to the limited space on the ADM-3A's keyboard, where the tilde was first used as the home key. The terminal's simplicity and efficiency made it a popular choice, serving as a reliable interface for interacting with larger computer systems.
