[ENG]: The Iskra Delta 4850 is an early computer system from Slovenia, assembled by the historically significant company Iskra Delta. This system emerged during the era of "minicomputers" in the 1970s and 1980s. These minicomputers, roughly the size of a refrigerator, were smaller than the room-sized or multi-room computers that preceded them. The term "minicomputer" highlights the substantial size of professional computers at the time. While smaller computers existed, they were rare, underpowered, and unsuitable for professional and business applications. Operating primarily in Slovenia, then part of Yugoslavia, Iskra Delta leveraged Yugoslavia's unique geopolitical position. Although socialist, Yugoslavia was not part of the Eastern Bloc, allowing access to Western and American hardware. As a result, the Iskra Delta 4850 system was built around a DEC VAX-11/750 computer with a 3.125 MHz CPU on multiple large boards. It included three Fujitsu M2284N Fixed Disk Units (168.5 MB each), a Fujitsu M2294N Fixed Disk Unit (335.54 MB), a Cipher M990 Magnetic Tape Drive, and a domestically made power supply. The system's two towers housed the computer and its "hard drive," which used large, heavy cartridges—essentially huge magnetic tapes in proper casing—accessible via designated drawers. This large computer was shared among multiple users through computer terminals. These terminals, resembling modern desktop computer monitors and keyboards, were text-only display devices that sent and received text from the computer. Such terminals were also manufactured in Slovenia. Data and programs were read from magnetic tapes, facilitating the computer's operations.
